Q1:) What is hosting?

Web hosting gives you the facility to publish your web pages onto the Internet, and allow visitors to access your site from a domain name such as yourdomain.co.uk. We also provide (UNLIMITED) email service, so you can accept email at your domain name and collect it from an email program such as Microsoft Outlook Express. (Detailed instructions available)

Q2:) Will I need web hosting?

A:)	If you have a site created or intend on creating a web site for your domain name then the answer is yes you will require web hosting.

Q3:) Do I get email with my web hosting?

A:)	Yes! We offer unlimited email forwarding or unlimited pop3 accounts with all our web hosting packages.(excludes personal account for individuals or charities.)

Q4:) What is NT and Linux?

A:)	Quite Simply...... They are completely different operating systems offering different features. Please consult your web designers or contact us to help you decide. In our opinion Linux is the faster more resilient platform.

Q5:) What If I just want to use my domain for email?

A:)	No Problem! You can choose to set up an email forwarding account this option can also be used for pop3 accounts. Email forwarding package is unlimited and therefore you can have as many accounts or forwarders as you desire.

Q6:) Is 700 MB/month of bandwidth (data transfer) going to be enough to support my web site?

A:)	This is a considerable amount of transfer. To offer an idea of what this actually means, an example is as follows. An average size web site with average size pages receiving approximately 80+ unique visitors per day would equal approximately 400mb transfer per month.

Q7:) Is 10mb of web space enough?

A:)

This is generally more than enough space. To offer an idea of what this actually means, an example is as follows. An 8 page web site with approx 20 images including logo, photographs and other images would be approx : 0.5mb-3mb. To find out the size of your entire site you can navigate to the directory in which you keep your site. (Usually in C:\Mywebs or My Documents or wwwroot e.t.c.) Then Right Click on the folder. Choose Properties It should say SIZE = xxxxx

Q8:) How do I transfer files to my web site?

A:)

You must have an FTP Program. (Or Frontpage Extensions) There is more in-depth documentation/information on this in the control center. Also links to download free software. We also offer Full Technical support via telephone or (STS) Support Tracking System - The STS offers a direct service to our technical support department and offers a guaranteed quick response.

Q9:) Will I have unlimited access to update my pages?

A:)	Yes! 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Q10:) How long does it take to set up a new account?

A:)

We can have your account set up immediately, but your domain name will not become active until it has fully transferred or fully propogated.(See table below for more information) With FREE domain transfer: UK domains = 4 hours (average) from transfer completion. TLD domains = 6 hours (average) from transfer completion. Other domains = 10 hours (average) from transfer completion. With Domain Registration carried out by us: UK domains = 3 hours (average) from transfer completion. TLD domains = 4 hours (average) from transfer completion. Other domains = 8 hours (average) from transfer completion.

Q11:) Can I access my domain address with or without the "www"?

A:)	Yes. One of the most important features of our web hosting service. All domains will be functional both with and without the www. We also offer your own mail and smtp servers e.g mail.your-domain.co.uk and smtp.your-domain.co.uk

Q14:) How will I collect my email?

A:)	KT Hosting is part of KT Web and have been operating as a separate identity for over 3 years.

Q16:) When was the last time your network went down?

A:)

UN-Scheduled downtime rarely occurs, and if it does you can bet we know about it almost seconds after it's occurence. We carry surplus equipment that ensures we can rectify any hardware problem within a matter of minutes. Our last un-scheduled downtime period lasted for 1 hour and 20 minutes and was over 1 year ago. This was caused by our bandwidth provider. All Scheduled downtime periods are scheduled between the hours of 02:00am and 05:00am. We do our best to notify all clients of scheduled down time 24 hours in advance.
